FLAME FIRE DANCE

Flame's speciality is fire performance.

We blend the full sensory seduction of fire, with our form of circo-arts dance, hot costume, driving music, blazing toys and performance passion to create slick, punchy shows.

Flame's performers are dancers and our focus is on creating a high-energy, tightly choreographed visual spectacle to suit your event.

Flame's shows are performed to upbeat music by as many as eight fire dancers depending on your budget. Choreographed shows are between five and ten minutes long and incorporate an array of speciality crafted fire toys including triple poi, double staffs, fire wings, fire fans, fire fingers, fire whip and fire hula hoops.

We also have an improvised Fire dance option we call, Flame Fire Jam, with the same toys and energy only less choreographed and for a longer duration, more suitable to some events.

Our insurance allows us to perform in most indoor and outdoor venues.

Interested in learning to dance with fire? Check out our workshop  "The Fire Dance Experience" coming soon on our community page.

Great entertainment for adults and kids alike, they help break down barriers, get people into the swing of things.

Our walk-about characters include two Mardigras Showgirls complete with feather headdresses and sequin tops. They love to dance and entertain.

Queen Beetroot with her court Juggling Jester.  loves a bit of juicy gossip and entertains her 'subjects' (your guests) by commanding her hapless jester to juggle. They both generally joke around with the crowd and loosen everyone up.

Other stilt characters include Francesca - a Spanish dancer who loves to Tango and is perfect for a Carnivale evening.
Miss Green who is a friendly character dressed in a huge green Victorian style dress with a massive hoop skirt.
Old Man Autumn spouts wisdom and is always conscious of the time.
The Sun Man is a bright yellow character with golden wings, also great for a Carnivale theme.
Cyber Cindy glows under UV and is a giant wind up doll.

Our Wintery Royals include a grand Ice King with his charming consort the Ice Queen and their Snowflake Jester. All dressed in layers  of silver and white with elaborate headdress they are the perfect welcoming party to a Winter Wonderland.

PYRO-DANCE

Welcome to the next level of fire performance – PyroDance.

We've swapped out fire wicks for fire works and spin a blaze of sparks on stage to create a spectacular and unforgettable show, bringing the excitement and awe of fire works onto the stage.

Evolution is our high energy PyroDance show. Performers dressed in stunning silver costumes create a slick space age look. When the music kicks in, grandiose sparks fly as we spin our pyro toys and dance to the driving rhythm.

Our pyro toys include fountain staffs, flare pois, lancer fingers and fans, and fountain hula. The silver costuming and wings enhance the visual effect of the flying sparks. These elements combined with innovative choreography create an out-of-this-world theatrical experience. Stage pyro punctuates the show at key moments.

Evolution is a visual feast for the eyes, a kick-start for the heart, and inspiration for the imagination. It's sure to make an impression.

Pyro Dance is a fresh alternative to fire works and can be performed in most venues - both indoor and outdoor.

Foul Orcs of Mordor

LORD OF THE RINGS

Themed corporate dinner night

This is an elaborate product  which includes a singing Galadrial, flag dancing elves, fire wielding Aragorn and three fire juggling orcs all in authentic and eye catching costumes.

Other meet and greet  Lord of the Rings characters include friendly jovial hobbits and a grand Gandalf.

This is an idea of how the night could run. Aragorn who is dressed in a dark cloak with only his face showing meets the group outside the hotel, or marquee.

"Welcome to Middle Earth. I am Strider and I'm glad I've found you - it's not safe for you to be here. Our scouts have reported Orcs in the west coming this way. Quickly now, follow me and I'll take you to an elven safe haven."

They follow Aragorn into the themed room or outside for pre-dinner drinks where they're met by Galadrial who is lit from beneath so she glows white.

"Welcome, you are safe now. Relax, let your cares dissolve, for in Lothlorien our magic is strong. Everything in the outside world can't touch us here, so drink and enjoy."

She then begins to sing a haunting, beautiful song to everyone followed by an entrancing flag dance with three other beautiful and serene elves.
After dinner Orcs burst into the room disturbing the flow and cause mayhem. They disappear outside and Aragorn bursts into the room.

"Orcs, outside. We've held them off for now, but we need to use fire to scare them back to where they've come from. Come follow me."

He leads them outside and a fire show begins to live drumming and 'Lord of the Rings' music. It's very dramatic and concludes with the defeat of the orcs by Aragorn. He calls to Galadrial who returns, sings a song of farewell and then departs with Aragorn wrapping up the night.

This entertainment can run in tandem with a band etc.

Mahuika gifts Maui Fire

grand finale

UV club scene

Mahuika. Goddess of Fire

MAHUIKA'S FIRE

Mahuika's Fire is an hour-long theatrical journey into the realms of magic and fire. It is based on the Maori legend of fire and follows a young man called Maui into the underworld to ask for fire from the fire goddess Mahuika. It is a beautiful show with many twists and turns, suitable for arts festivals or as a stand-alone touring show.
In the original legend, Maui is curious to discover the source of fire, so he puts his village fire out and goes on a dangerous mission to find the giver of fire - Mahuika - his great grandmother and Fire Goddess.
He enters her underworld and she grants him fire from one of her fingers. He takes the fire, but on the way back to his village it goes out - some say he puts it out. Maui goes back many times for more fire, but each time due to his carelessness, it goes out.
The final time he goes back, Mahuika is wild. She sets the bush on fire and he changes into many creatures to escape the blaze. Mahuika then puts the last of her fire into the Kaikomako tree so the people will always have fire. The wood of the Kaikomako tree was used by the Maori to make fire.

We have taken the basis of this myth and given it a contemporary interpretation.

Mahuika embodies wisdom. She is of the ancient way. Her power is eternal.
Maui is a brave and curious youth who wants to know what life is all about. He calls to Mahuika for fire and she gives it to him freely.
Maui takes it and boldly goes out into the world, but soon gets trapped in the city where the rat race consumes him.
He loses himself - his fire goes out.
Maui goes back to Mahuika who grants him more fire from her fingers with a gentle warning. He goes back into the world with renewed energy, but soon becomes lost in the party scene (a UV and electroluminescent dance scene). Drugs, alcohol and excess.
His fire goes out.
He returns to Mahuika who gives him more fire for the last time with a fiercer warning. He strides away purposefully, determined to keep the fire alight but is soon confronted with the hardest challenge of all - his own fears and predjudices.
He fights himself - his fire goes out.
Mahuika refuses Maui any more fire and unleashes her awesome power (a fantastic fire performance scene), which terrifies and humbles him. Maui learns to respect the fire of life and his own internal flame. Together they take Mahuika's last spark of fire and gift it to the tree of life ( a massive fire sculpture), from which we all learn.

The sound track is a mix of original music composed for the show, and contemporary Maori artists such as Wai.
Big hats off to all the crew who had anything to do with Mahuika's Fire at the end of festival week. Around 400 people turned out for the final show on Saturday night and what a treat. The obvious hard work paid off and all were entertained by fire dancers, hula hoopers and a perfect sound and light show. All three nights were a huge success, and despite the 'brass monkey' temperatures, the crowds were obviously blown away.
The Source, Queenstown.
